NYC Eats: My 8 Favorite Spots Right Now

*July 10, 2024*

You all know how much I love exploring the NYC food scene. Between all the amazing restaurants, trendy cafes, and hidden gems, there's always somewhere new to discover. But I have a few tried-and-true favorites that I find myself returning to time and time again. Here are 8 of my current top picks for dining in the city:

**1. Balthazar**

This classic French brasserie in SoHo has been a NYC institution for years, and for good reason. The cozy, sophisticated atmosphere, impeccable service, and *magnifique* menu make it the perfect spot for everything from a power brunch to a romantic dinner. I'm personally obsessed with their croque monsieur, steak frites, and of course, the to-die-for bread basket.

**2. TOWA**

For a completely different vibe, TOWA in the Meatpacking District offers a modern Japanese dining experience unlike any other. The minimalist, light-filled space provides the perfect backdrop for their meticulously crafted sushi, sashimi, and specialty rolls. I recommend splurging on the omakase tasting menu - it's a culinary journey you won't soon forget.

**3. Sushi Nama**

Speaking of sushi, another one of my go-tos is Sushi Nama in the West Village. This tiny, unassuming spot serves up some of the freshest, most delectable nigiri and maki in the city. The fish is impeccably sourced and prepared with the utmost care and attention to detail. Make sure to save room for their housemade mochi for dessert!

**4. Lucia Pizza of SoHo**

No NYC food guide would be complete without a top-notch pizza recommendation. For me, that has to be Lucia Pizza of SoHo. This family-owned spot serves up classic New York-style slices and pies that are simply perfection. The crust is perfectly chewy, the sauce is rich and flavorful, and the toppings are always high-quality and delicious.

**5. Palma in West Village**

When I'm craving a cozy, romantic Italian meal, I head straight to Palma in the West Village. This charming trattoria has an intimate, rustic vibe with string lights, exposed brick, and verdant greenery all around. The housemade pastas are divine, and I'm particularly fond of their gnocchi and rigatoni. Pair it with a well-curated glass of wine for the ultimate date night.

**6. Torrisi**

For an upscale, fine dining experience, Torrisi in Nolita is an absolute must. The seasonal, locally-sourced menu is both innovative and deeply comforting, with standout dishes like the roasted chicken, spinach gnocchi, and the to-die-for tiramisu. It's the perfect spot for a special occasion or a leisurely, multi-course meal.

**7. Cote**

Korean BBQ fans, listen up - Cote in the Flatiron District is an absolute gem. This sleek, modern restaurant offers an elevated take on the traditional Korean BBQ experience, with high-quality meats, impeccable service, and delectable banchan (Korean side dishes). I recommend going with a group so you can sample a variety of protein options.

**8. River Cafe**

Last but not least, the River Cafe in Brooklyn offers unparalleled views of the Manhattan skyline in an absolutely stunning setting. The menu features upscale, seasonally-driven American cuisine that never disappoints. It's the perfect spot for a special celebration or romantic date night. Just be sure to make reservations well in advance!

So there you have it - my current top 8 NYC restaurant recommendations. Whether you're in the mood for classic French, elevated Japanese, authentic Italian, or anything in between, these spots are sure to deliver an unforgettable dining experience. Happy eating!
