Linus Pauling recipient Dr Patrick Hanaway

Takeaways from my interview with Linus Pauling recipient Dr Patrick Hanaway

Dr Hanaway served as the head of Institute of Functional Medicine, which focuses a lot on often looking for the root cause of symptoms and illnesses, rather than just focusing on treating the symptoms. A lot of tools and modalities can be used for gut health testing, blood panels, and more holistic approaches depending on the issue that’s being dealt with.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Dr Hanaway and here are some highlights from our conversation:

The Japanese coined it forest bathing, however there has been compelling research and studies that have come out talking about the increase in T-Cells, which are the immune cells of the body that increase after spending time in nature. Another interesting one was that it was noticed that within the same city, people who went to the park had different microbiomes to people who didn’t. 70% of our immune system rests in our gut, and gut health is something that a lot more people are aware of today. So having that diversity in our gut health, can be really good for your overall health and wellness
